Everyone should drive through a Redwood Tree if they have the chance and if you're in Southern Humboldt, you have the chance!  For just a few bucks, you can drive through the Shrine Drive Thru Tree and be the envy of all your friends who haven't. 
How to get there:
From Highway 101, take the Myers Flat exit and head north on Avenue of the Giants.  The Shrine Drive Thru Tree will be on your left less than a mile up the road.

There are a couple of tree houses for the kids to play in as you head toward the exit of the grounds. 
Other things to do in the area:
If you like going into trees, stop by The Living Chimney Tree in Phillipsville and the Eternal Tree House in Redcrest.  The Immortal Tree is also a cool thing to visit while in the Redcrest area.  The Punta Gorda Recreation Area has quite a bit to offer and if you've ever wanted to experience the Lost Coast, this is a great place to get started.
