McKinleyville - Camping at Clam Beach County Park

There are two campsites with 12 Tent sites and 15 RV spaces at Clam Beach County Park.  All of these spots are on a first come, first served basis. There is a host on-site and the maximum length of stay is 3 days.  There are metal rings and barbeques and it's legal to have beach fires (restrictions do apply, see the site host for more information).  There are bathrooms but no shower facilities.

The park is ideal for kite flying, frisbees and kicking around the soccer ball as well as picknicking and other family friendly beach activities.  Clamming and surfing are also two of the unique opportunities that await you here.   
How to get there:
Take the Clam Beach Drive exit (there's a north and south exit) about 3 miles north of McKinleyville.

Day use is Free and camping is only $12/night.  Dogs and Horses are welcome.
Other things to do in the area:
To the south in McKinleyville, check out Hiller Park or visit the World's Tallest Totem Pole.  A few miles north in Trinidad, visit the Trinidad Museum or Trinidad Art Gallery and while you're there, take some time to enjoy the beauty of Trinidad State Beach.  The north head of the Hammond Trail, an 11-mile (round trip) walking and biking path is at the south part of Clam Beach Drive and runs along the beach to the north side of McKinleyville; through Hiller Park.
