Buzz and Charlotte Chapman opened their first rock shop, the Gem Cottage, in 1950 on the Rogue River in Oregon and have since relocated to their present location just south of Fortuna.  The Chapmans have traveled all over the world to put together their unique collection of gems and minerals which you are invited to come see.  Their collections feature pieces from Central America, South America, Australia, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Southern Europe as well as from all over the United States.
How to get there:
The museum sits right on the side of Highway 101, just south of Fortuna.

The museum is a great place to visit for everyone.  Don't hesitate to bring the kids; they'll love it!
Other fun things to do in the area:
Just a few miles to the south is the Scotia Museum and a bit further south is the world-famous Avenue of the Giants.  In Fortuna, be sure to visit Rohner Park which is home to walking trails and the Depot Museum.
