The Ferndale Museum is a great place to learn about the history of Ferndale and some interesting things about Humboldt County as well. They have old blacksmithing equipment, seismographs (that still work!), early phone systems, a variety of other interesting displays and more.
How to get there:
From Highway 101, take the Fernbridge/Ferndale exit and head into town. As you enter town, take Shaw Avenue to the right and the museum will be on your right a block later.
More info:
The museum has limited hours, call ahead before making the trip. The blacksmith area is downstairs and can be missed if you don't know it's there.
Other things to do in the area:
Take a walk through Historic Ferndale and be sure to visit Redeye Laboratories, the Ferndale Art Gallery and the Blacksmith Shop Gallery. If you're looking to enjoy the outdoors while in town, visit Russ Park or make a trip to the Beach.
