The park is made up of almost 500 acres of coastal wetlands that are home to a wide variety of birds and other wildlife that can be seen on this peaceful walk right off of Highway 101 between Eureka and Arcata.
How to get there:
From 101, exit at Harper Motors (2 miles north of Eureka). There is a small parking lot directly in front of the entrance.

Hunting for waterfowl is permitted during open season. Hunt days are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Contact the California Department of Fish & Game for more information. Dogs are permitted but must be leashed.
Other things to do in the area:
The Arcata Marsh is just a few miles north, right off of the highway. There are also quite a few Beaches that line the highway as you travel north of Arcata.
