Hiller Park, which is adjacent to the Hiller Sports Complex, has a children's playground as well as one for toddlers. There is also a group bbq and picnic area, restrooms and an area just for dogs.
The 36-acre park is open from sunrise to sunset and offers walking access to the Mad River.
There is also a one and a half mile trail through this park that is quite beautiful and offers glimpses of the ocean.

How to get there:
From Highway 101, take the School Road exit and head west. Turn right on Ocean Drive and then make a right on Hiller Road. The park entrance will be on your left.

The picnic area can be rented for group events. The Hiller Sports Complex which has a turf field, baseball field and softball field as well as concession areas can also be rented. Call 707-839-9003 for more information.
Other things to do in the area:
Trinidad State Beach is just to the north. Azalea State Reserve is close by as is the Arcata Community Forest.
