The UC Davis Arboretum is a 100-acre park set along the banks of the old north channel of Putah Creek on campus.  The arboretum is home to over 22,000 trees, plants and flowers as well as a variety of birds and other wildlife; including cute little turtles.
There are a few miles of paved pathways so you can comfortably walk and enjoy the peaceful environment.

How to get there:
There are quite a few ways to get there depending on your starting point.  Check out the map for your best route.
More info:
You'll need a visitor's pass or can pay at a meter to park on campus.  Visit the Arboretum Website for more info.
Other things to do in the area:
Davis Community Park is nice city park to visit.  The California Agriculture Museum has some pretty cool displays as well as historic machines and in Sacramento, take a tour of the State Capitol, visit Discovery Park or attend an adrenaline pumping Roller Derby Bout
