The Humboldt State University Marine Lab opened in 1965 and was established to provide a center for marine and environmental science teaching and research for the students and faculty of the College of Natural Resources and Sciences.
The Marine Lab is open for tours, Monday-Friday from 9am-4:30pm.  The tours are free and are also available on the weekends during the academic year.
The facility also hosts courses, exhibitions and other happenings that the public is invited to attend.

How to get there:
From Highway 101, take the Trinidad exit into town.  Turn left on Trinity and then Right on Edwards (at the 't').  The Laboratory will be on your right at the bottom of Edwards; before you turn down to the Harbor Area.
More information:
They have a few tours depending on your group size, interests, etc.  Check out their Tours Page for more information.
Other things to do in the area:
Trinidad State Beach is just a few feet away and is one of the best beaches in area.  Sue-meg State Park is just north of the Lab as is College Cove.  To the south, along Scenic Drive, visit Houda Point, Luffenholtz Beach or Moonstone Beach if you're looking for a beautiful spot to relax on the beach.
