Established in 1907, Sequoia Park Zoo was the first zoo in California and is one of the smallest accredited zoos in the country.  Located in the beautiful redwoods of Sequoia Park, the zoo is home to a wide variety of animals that will inspire an understanding and respect for the natural world by providing a fun, educational experience for everyone who walks through its doors.  From the monkey exhibit and their amazing aviary to the petting zoo barnyard and their interactive indoor exhibits, Sequoia Park Zoo has something for people of all ages. Be sure to stop by the zoo cafe for snacks and the gift shop for a momento of your visit.
How to get there:
There are a few ways to get there depending on where you start.  Check out the map for your best route.
More info:
The zoo is open from 10am-5pm.  It is closed Mondays between Labor Day and Memorial Day.  For more information about Sequoia Park Zoo, visit its Website.
Other fun things to do in the area:
Be sure to take a walk through the beautiful Sequoia Park while at the Zoo.  Cheering on the Humboldt Roller Derby team or spending a night at the ballpark rooting for the Humboldt Crabs are both a lot of fun.  Our parks section is full of details about Humboldt County Parks where you can play, picnic or just relax.
