The "Queen City of the Northern Mines," Shasta State Historic Park was once the picturesque gold mining town of Shasta. Stroll amongst the sites of Shasta and let your imagination explore this once-bustling town. Visit the Courthouse Museum, Litsch General Store, the Blacksmith Shop and the Visitor Center to take a step back in time.
How to get there:
From Redding, take Highway 299 West toward Eureka. Shasta State Historic Park is right along the highway (you can't miss it) 6 miles east of Redding.

Just west of the park is Whiskeytown Lake which offers an incredible amount of recreational opportunities like fishing, boating, swimming, hiking and checking out some gorgeous Waterfalls.
