This moderate out-and-back trail leads you to one of the most beautiful waterfalls at Whiskeytown Lake. The hike to the 220 foot waterfall starts with a decline to the creek valley but then remains at a manageable incline the rest of the way.
Take some time at the falls and enjoy the peace you'll find while there.  Since the trail is out-and-back, you get new views as you travel mostly downhill on your return trip toward the parking lot.
The stairs to Upper Whiskey Falls have been closed due to falling boulders which you will see when you get there.  You can safely go up them, part way, to gain different views of the waterfall but we suggest you don't try to access the trail after the point where the park has blocked it off.

Distance:  3.4 miles; out & back
Degree of Difficulty:  Slightly moderate
Dogs:  Yes, on leash only.
Camping:  Check out our Camping Section for information about camping at Whiskeytown Lake.
How to get there:
From the Visitor Center, take Highway 299 west to Crystal Creek Road; located just past the Tower House Historic District.  Go left on Crystal Creek Road and the trailhead parking lot is on your left, just less than 4 miles up the hill.
More info:
Crystal Creek Falls is on the same road and it's very convenient to see both waterfalls on the same trip.
