The Gibson Museum & Cultural Center focuses on Southern Lake County's, geological history, archaeology, native populations, mining, resorts and more.
The museum is well put together very well, features specialized displays and the volunteers who help run the museum are very knowledgable. 
The museum also hosts special events including its, Fireside Chat, which features fascinating speakers covering a wide range of interesting topics.

How to get there:
The museum is located right off of Highway 29 in Middletown.  Take a look at the map for your best route to get there.

The museum is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12pm-4pm.  Visit the museum's website for more information.
Other fun things to do in the area:
Middletown has some great wineries worth a visit if you're looking to do some wine tasting while in the area.  In nearby Kelseyville, visit the Ely Stage Stop and Country Museum or play in the water at Clear Lake State Park.
