The China Flat Museum was started in 1988 with the idea of preserving and promoting the history of eastern Humboldt County. The museum contains a section of Native American artifacts and exhibits from the Hupa, Yurok, Karok, Chimariko and Wintu tribes and their related histories in the county.
You can also see replicas of a miner's cabin, a gold mine and an actual working blacksmith shop as part of the outdoor part of the museum.
The Museum is most well-known for its Bigfoot exhibit. Made up of donated pieces, pictures, maps and folklore, it's worth the stop when in the Willow Creek area.
