This historic beach has significant Oregon Coastal history as it was the site of a fierce battle between Natives and explorers back in 1851 and is how the park got its name.  It's an interesting story that you can read more about by visiting this Website
These days, the park is open for all to enjoy and offers a beautiful beach, open grass areas that are perfect for a picnic and and plenty of places to explore.  Sunsets here are usually pretty incredible.
You can also take a trail up to the top of the rock itself which may offer the most spectacular views on the coast.

The park is located right off of Highway 101 on the south side of Port Orford.

Visit the Port Orford Lifeboat Station, which is connected to Port Orford Heads Sate Park, and check out some of the area's Art Galleries while you're in town.
