The 1200-acre Benbow State Recreation Area is a unique treasure that offers large, day-use picnic areas, camping, hiking, swimming, picknicking and plenty of room for relaxation. 
Salmon and Steelhead fishing are popular activities at the park so bring your poles when you visit.
How to get there:
The Recreation Area is 2 miles south of Garberville and 1 mile north of Richardson Grove State Park on Highway 101.

You can camp at the park and spots are on a first come, first served bases.   There are self-pay day-use fees to use the picnic area.

Other things to do in the area:
Richardson Grove State Park is just south of the Recreation Area and also offers camping.  Just north, in Garberville, the Southern Humboldt Community Park offers trails, picnic areas and Disc Golf.
