Located in the beautiful redwoods off of Highway 36, Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park offers convenience and fun.  The park is located along the Van Duzen River and has both camping and day-use options so you can bring the family out for a day or make a weekend of it.
Activities include; nature walks, fishing, hiking, swimming, barbequeing and just general relaxation.  You're also likely to see some wildlife while visiting the park.
How to get there:
From Highway 101, turn East on Highway 36.  The park is 17 miles east on 36 and will be on your right.
Camping info:
The campground has 28 sites so reservations are highly recommended in the late Spring, Summer and early Fall months.  Otherwise, they are on a first come, first served basis.  There are campsites in the woods and along the river as well as shower and laundry facilities. There is also typically a host on site.  Contact the park for pricing and group camp options.
More info:
Entry fee is $5 for day use.  Be sure to stop by the visitor center and museum while you're there. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.  For more information, check out the Park's Website.
Other things to do in the area:
Van Duzen County Park is a few miles west on Highway 36.  A trip through Avenue of the Giants is always pretty amazing and the Scotia Museum is full of logging and other local history.
