The Cave Campground is located on Highway 89 across from the Subway Cave.  It offers 17 sites that are open for camping from April-October and come with fire rings, barbeques, potable water and vault & flush toilets.
No reservations are required and the sites are $16/night.  Check-in is 3pm and there is a 14-day limit.

Cave info:
Formed just less than 20,000 years ago, the Subway Cave was formed by lava that flowed in large volumes from a series of fissures within Lassen National Forest.  The rock above cooled and became solid while lava continued to run through what is now the cave (the lava created the cave!).
How to get there:
The entrance to the campground is 1/4 mile north of the Highway 89 and Highway 44 junction.  You get little notice before the exit.
More info:
The campground offers access to Hat Creek where you can fish in some of the best waters in Northern California.  There is also free day-use parking available.
Other fun things to do in the area:
To the north, along Highway 89, you'll find Burney Falls State Park.  If you head north and then go east on 299; you can find Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park, Fall River Lake and the Fort Crook Museum.  The Hat Creek Radio Obervatory is also a cool place to visit when you're in the area and it's pretty close to the campground.  Lassen Volcanic National Park is just south and a great place to spend a day exploring.
