A little over an hour south of Redding is the Glenn Golf and Country Club; right off of I-5.  This is a regulation 9-hole course with different tee boxes to change the front nine from the back nine, allowing for 18 holes of play. 
The course is well maintained and is not too difficult but can certainly be challenging.  The fairways are lined with trees which requires golfers to place an emphasis on accuracy but errant shots are not penalized too heavily and a good follow-up shot can help with a quick recovery.   
The Country Club also features a driving range, pitching/chipping area and putting green for your convenience.
