Crescent City - Lake Earl Wildlife Area

The western edge of the approximately 6,100-acre wildlife area borders the Pacific Ocean and sand dunes extending inland are covered with scattered beach grasses and other vegetation.  The area encompasses Lakes Earl and Tolowa as well as two lagoons connected by a deep channel known as the Narrows and bordered by salt and fresh water marshes. 
Lake Earl is the largest coastal lagoon on the US West Coast and some of the diverse wildlife species that can be found in this area include quail, grouse, canvasback, western grebe, coastal black tailed deer and beaver.

Other things to do in the area:
Tolowa Dunes State Park is just to the north and Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is a few miles to the east.  While in Crescent City, make a visit to Battery Point Lighthouse and Beachfront Park which has a waterfront Disc Golf Course.
