Inhabited by the Pomo Indians for over 10,000 years, this 1,000+ acre park consists of hundreds of acres of Tule Marsh, which is home to a wide variety of animals and quite a few bird species that visit throughout the year.  
There are also historical buildings in the park that played a significant role in the history of the area. 
This beautiful park also has a wonderful trail system which takes walkers through the diverse environments of the park.  It's the walking trail that makes this park so popular and is a great place to visit while on your road trip.

Other things to do in the area:
While in Lower Lake, visit the Historic Schoolhouse Museum.  To the east in Kelseyville, Clear Lake State Park will put you lakeside with lots of fun stuff to do.  If you're looking to do a little wine tasting, check out the wineries in Clearlake Oaks and Kelseyville.
