The Point Cabrillo Lighthouse is a 100+ year old lighthouse within the almost 300 acre Point Cabrillo State Park.  In addition to the lighthouse, a period museum, lightkeeper's house and gift shop, which you'll find inside the park, it offers walking trails along the coast, high on the bluffs where you can look for harbor seals, sea lions, whales and other marine life as well as deer and other wildlife.  The spring wildflowers add some incredible color to the park and populate the bluffs throughout.
There are also picnic areas and plenty of room to stretch out, relax and enjoy the views.  Don't forget your camera and if you have binoculars, bring them as this is also a popular whale watching point.
You can access the lighthouse and other parts of the park from 11am-4pm; year-round.

How to get there:
The Lighthouse is located five miles south of Fort Bragg on Highway 1.  Check out the map for your best route to get there.
More info:
The main parking lot is a half mile from the Lighthouse itself.  Handicap parking is available closer to the lighthouse.
Other things to do in the area:
Jug Handle State Preserve and the Mendocino Botanical Gardens are just to the north. Heading south down Highway 1, you'll find Russian Gulch State Park and the Mendocino Headlands.  While in Mendocino, don't miss some of the Art Galleries that feature beautifully creative work from local and regional artists.
