The Curry County Historical Museum hosts collections that represent the history of Curry County and surrounding areas.  Their exhibits, photographs and other memorabilia include those related to the area's mining, logging, Native American and pioneer history.
The volunteers at the museum are extremely helpful and knowledgable about the area.  If your destination is Gold Beach, make this museum one of your stops.

As you enter Gold Beach from the south, the museum will be on your right.

Other things to do in the area:  
Jerry's Rogue River Museum is another cool museum in the area.  If you're heading north, check out some Port Orford Art Galleries and make a stop at the beautiful Floras Lake State Park.To the south, Pistol River State Beach is a great beach where the Pistol River meets the ocean.
