The "Queen City of the Northern Mines," Shasta State Historic Park was once the picturesque gold mining town of Shasta. Stroll among the sites of Shasta and let your imagination reflect on this once-bustling town.
Be sure to visit the Courthouse Museum, Litsch General Store and the Blacksmith Shop and take a step back in time.

How to get there:
If your road trip from Humboldt takes you along Highway 299, you'll pass the park on your way into Redding.  Shasta State Historic Park is right along the highway (you can't miss it) 6 miles east of Redding.

Other things to do in the area:
Just east of the park is Whiskeytown Lake which offers fishing, boating, swimming, hiking and more.  You'll pass the lake before passing the park as you head toward Redding.  In Redding, don't miss McConnell Arboretum and the Sundial Bridge for some additional fun on your trip.
