Empire Lakes would be a gem in any city but Coos Bay is lucky enough to be its home.  The park features Empire Lakes (Upper, Middle and Lower) which provide great fishing (bass, bluegill, perch and catfish), places to relax and photo opportunities.  Lower Empire Lake also has a beach and boat ramp and welcomes kayaks and canoes as well.
There are also over 5 miles of trails that wind through the beautiful park and a playground for the kids.
How to get there:
There are a few ways to get there depending on your starting point.  Check out the map for your best route.

Other fun things to do in the area:
While in town, visit the Coos Art Museum and the Coos Historical & Maritime Museum (located right on the Bay!).  Shore Acres State Park, Sunset Bay State Park and Bastendorf Beach Park are great ways to enjoy Oregon's coastal beauty.  The South Slough Reserve is a peaceful place to walk some trails and enjoy the serenity.
